Four beats, many patterns
Build a bar and discover how music connects to fractions.
In this 4/4 exercise, a quarter note is 1 beat, a half note 2, and an eighth note half a beat. Add notes to make exactly 4 beats. Every combination that does so is accepted.
What you will practise: Represent the same quantity in different ways.
Think it through together
One person proposes a strategy; the other asks “why?” and looks for a case where it fails. Then swap roles. No names or speed competition needed.
Before viewing the explanation: what do we know, what are we assuming, and how would we check the result?
