The goal
Mark cells to reach every row and column total. In a row, a marked cell is worth its column number: 1, 2, 3 or 4. In a column, it is worth its row number.
Every square has a weight. Make it all add up.
Getting your game ready…
Mark cells to reach every row and column total. In a row, a marked cell is worth its column number: 1, 2, 3 or 4. In a column, it is worth its row number.
Tap a cell to cycle through empty, marked and crossed out. Right and bottom clues show current/target sums. A completed sum is highlighted; if you exceed it, check your marks.
Look for totals with few combinations: only the first position makes 1; a total of 9 in four cells needs 2 + 3 + 4. Combine row and column deductions. Every board has exactly one solution.
Your marked cells currently add up to 3 and that row needs 7. Crossed-out cells contribute nothing. Every row and column must match at the same time.

One square has two values: one for its row and another for its column. Understanding that difference is the first step towards solving the grid.
